Canadian Manners

A Friendly Day

I was at the checkout of a grocery store yesterday enjoying friendly and polite service from the young cashier.  I complimented her on her packing skills obviously done with care.  Sadly, this is no longer the "norm".  She thanked me and said how nice people were today and said that one gentleman in the line had paid for the lady's groceries who was ahead of him!  I commented that maybe he was flirting with her - she said that the lady was very old. Awww - isn't that sweet?  What a lovely act of kindness.

The Joke's on Us

Our reputation for being polite as Canadians has been the butt of many a good humored joke.  I recently heard that actor Vince Vaughan was being interviewed on the Ellen Show and she was asking after his little daughter, who is still a toddler.  Vince replied that his wife is Canadian so they didn't have to teach her to say "thank you" ... she came that way.  Ellen apparently asked if she had said "I'm sorry" yet !!!

So it appears that we still have it !  Lets not lose it !

Have a nice day ... wink, wink.
