I was in a takeout coffee shop yesterday morning and couldn't help but notice a man at the counter. He was dressed so beautifully in casual business attire - he really stood out and was looking good, very good. He looked to be in his mid-forties with a nicely trimmed goatee and great hair - also nicely trimmed but not too short. He was wearing a white dress shirt, a classy but quiet tie, charcoal grey dress pants with a black leather belt and black leather shoes, clean and polished. I could see that others noticed him too. He was looking professional, approachable and just plain "good". In front a me, another youngish man slouched past, eating his breakfast sandwich while walking, wearing a baseball cap, loose fitting, (baggy), shorts to his knees and dirty sneakers. What a contrast. "Casual" has gone too far, way too far - don't you think ? I know it was a weekend - but have some pride folks. Casual can still be clean and nice ..... without the dress shirt and tie. It was just interesting for me as an Etiquette trainer to watch the looks the gentleman was getting. And yes ... he was cute. Mmm. :) |
